A Note from the Preacher…Larry Sweeney

        We have just completed a very beneficial seminar. My thanks to Earl Edwards for placing before us many challenges that should be considered prayerfully. I also thank those of you who participated in a committed and positive manner. Your preparation, your words of encouragement, your involvement in the Sunday meal, and your attendance to all sessions including the final 1:30 worship was greatly appreciated. This is further evidence of your love for the Lord and the church here. Much good can be done if we apply what we have learned to our work at Meigs Ave.

INTROSPECTION

We often pray for things we crave
God usually gives them if we have faith.
He answers our prayers when He sees fit,
But do we thank Him, or do we forget?

When we are praying for good health
Which should mean more to us than wealth)
Our wish is granted if God has willed;
But do we thank Him when it's been fulfilled?

When storms are raging and waters high
We raise our voices toward the sky;
But, when everything is calm again,
Do we ever think of our Saviour then?

When days are dreary and skies are gray
When lonely and weary, just kneel and pray.
Just try it --- you'll find it's not so odd
To have a little talk with God!
--Mary J. Harris 2/7/50

  Over the years sis. Mary Harris has given me many poems and other materials that she has authored. I appreciate and value each of them. The poem printed above was given to me just a few days ago. It has a powerful message. As we should, we quickly go to God in prayer as the many needs and cares of life confront us and often bewilder us. At the same time, when God has answered and we are reassured of His loving care, are we as quick to say, “thank you?” Our thanks to Mary for providing this wonderful reminder, and we are always encouraged by Frank and Mary's commitment to serve and worship in the midst of many health problems.
