Several years ago I attended an in-service training session for Hospice volunteers. We learned of the many diseases (germs) that are resistant to many of our antibiotics. Do you know how this has happened? How is it that a germ can become resistant to an antibiotic? This occurs when people do not take the antibiotic properly. Instead of taking the complete prescription, they feel better after a few days, and then stop taking it. This allows the germ to continue to work, and actually develop ways to resist the antibiotic. Another way of saying this is that because we do not drive out the germ, it finds a way to become stronger.
Let's summarize: BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO DO OUR OWN THING AND NOT TAKE THE PRESCRIPTION AS REQUIRED, WE ALLOW THE GERM TO CONQUER THE ANTIBIOTIC!
The spiritual application is obvious. Sin enters our lives. If we do not take God's remedy and use ALL the weapons God has provided, sin will remain and actually become stronger. So, the first thing we learn is that we must seek God's cure for the problem (go to the 'Great Physician'). Once we have done that, we must APPLY ALL of God's cure to the problem. We must keep on using it until we have driven out the sin. For example, God's Word has promised us armor as we confront Satan (Ephesians 6:10-18). Let's use it ALL of it! We are also promised a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Let's seek it and use it!
Let's summarize: FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! USE EVERY RESOURCE GOD HAS PROVIDED! GOD KNOWS BEST! SIN CAN BE CONQUERED!

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE?
Several years ago there was an ad campaign that asked that question. Parents it is ten o'clock, do you know where your children are? Of course its purpose was to make parents think, and to realize that their responsibility was to know what their children were doing and where they were.
We need to ask the same question of ourselves concerning our children's spiritual well-being. Parents, where are your children regarding their Bible knowledge and who God is? Just a few things that we need to teach our children and make sure they know.
1. That God is real.
2. That being a religious person is good.
3. That the Word of God is the answer.
4. That the church is vitally important.
We all want to be good parents. Hey, I even think that our children want to be good children. It is our responsibility not only as parents but as Christians to know where our children are!
